Tyers Stream Reserve #2 Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

buttels: The area is much more overgrown than it was when I set this cache up,and as noted by the last DNF the earthquakes have taken their toll on the gully walls too. I won't want to be in there when the next earthquake happens! To this end, the cache is archived.

Geocache Description:

I got curious about a track that showed up on OpenStreetMap

So I visited Tylers Rd, went to the end of it, and found a Council maintenance track. It turned out to be a bit overgrown and does have some gorse and blackberry appearing otherwise the majority is harmless but substantial broom bushes. I mark a wapoint where there is an unmarked washout, so please take care around it.  There is also a surprizingly high waterfall in the stream, but it is difficult to get a view of it but you'll clearly hear it.

However what really grabbed my attention was the large pipe running across the stream, straight into the valley wall.  Pretty serious engineering.  Then I happened to look up - wow the valley is deep!

The cache should be found without too much trouble, however the last few metres will be boggy after rain and you will have to cross the stream.

The cache itself is under the first big rock you come to at the top of the scree slope. Also please note its a pop open bottle, you just have to find the best place to open it from.
