I have lived in several places over the course of my 40 + years on this planet, and it seems like everywhere I have lived, people say something along the lines of, "Don't like the weather around here? Wait 15 minutes", and then they laugh like that's the funniest thing on Earth, probably unaware that people in other parts of the country say the same thing.
Well, I can say for certainty that the part about "waiting 15 minutes" is true about the Ozarks, and not just because of the wild weather we've been having recently (it was over 80 degrees yesterday on 3/11/2014, and today when I hid the cache, it was 30 degrees colder, and some parts of the Ozarks even got snow). I recently read a report online somewhere that this part of the country has one of the most fluctuating variations of weather in the country. I can't find that article now or otherwise I'd post it, but if I found it on the Interweb, it must be true, no?
So, let's do a little optional experiment with this cache. I think it will take you around 15 minutes or more to find the cache and walk back to your car. This is not required to log the cache as found, but if you think about it, before you start walking down the trail from the parking area (northwest of the cache), check your phone and see what the temperature is. Then, when you get back to the car, check your phone again and see how much the temperature changed. Then, when you log your find (or DNF--hopefully not), post the "before" and "after" temperature readings. Again, this is optional and just for fun.
The cache is hidden in the woods, so beware of the normal hazards in the woods, especially in the warmer months. You will have a nice little geo-trail to follow as (I think) this is the third cache I've hidden in this spot. You are looking for a non-camouflaged plastic container with a blue screw-top lid. Please be sure to replace the cache exactly as you found it. TRANSLATION: It should be completely hidden from view and covered with leaves, rocks, etc. Thanks!
Good luck, have fun, and don't forget about the optional temperature experiment
