This cache is one of several caches in the Wildlife Woods Park, one of Hudson’s City Parks (even though it is located about 2.5 miles west of Hudson). This park is essentially surrounded by the Cuyahoga National Park. Parking is located off of Boston Mills Road. Dogs on leash OK. Daylight hours only. Bug repellant is recommended.
Recently (May 2007) there have been encounters of cachers in the Wildlife Woods with National Park Rangers who have indicated that geocaching is not permitted there. As noted previously, the Wildlife Woods caches of the Muddy Dawgs and FOHP are all located on the property of the City of Hudson. Muddy Dawgs received specific approval from the superintendent of Hudson City Parks for geocaching in this park. Wildlife Woods is a Hudson City Park. This is not U.S. Government property although the area is patrolled by Park Rangers and the area is surrounded by national park land. If you are approached by a Park Ranger, you may want to show them this cache page. Please contact us if you have such an encounter. This cache was originally placed by Boy Scout Troup 333 in 2003. “We like uphill hikes and heavy packs!” Muddy Dawgs has taken over the site at their request in August 2006. The trail begins with a STEEP climb at the east end of the lot. The loop for this hike for these caches can be finished by following the Buckeye Trail (along west side of park) to Boston Mills Road (south of the bridge over the turnpike) and walk back along Boston Mills Road to the parking lot. Watch out for traffic! Total hike is about one mile. Muggles should not be too much of a problem here, since this does not seem to be a busy trail. However, a bridle trail and the Buckeye Trail go through this area. The cache is a camouflaged medium size Lock & Lock container.
