"Let the Games Begin!" Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

gladeslvr & crew: This cache has enjoyed a nice run, despite not being found since 2010. I've heard the area of ground zero has been cleared to widen the road, so I fear the final is gone. To all who have found it, or at least moved some pieces around, thanks for the fun. I will be changing the goals of all remaining TBs.

Geocache Description:

aka "In Days of Old When Knights Were Bold"

!!!THERE IS NO CACHE HIDDEN AT THE ABOVE COORDINATES!!!

Once upon a time in the Land of Yomama there lived the fat (not phat, but FAT… as in plump, chubby, portly, corpulent), but fun loving, Emperor Couch Potato with his Royal Consorts, the beloved and enchanting Swampy Bottoms. One year at the Great Gathering of the Clans, the Emperor and the Consorts, along with the entire Gathering, became bored watching the living chessmen as they slowly moved about the board, on the order of watching paint dry. After much thought, the Emperor and the Consorts derived a new game where the chessmen were all set free to run about the hills, swamps, bogs and woods. Each chess piece was given a clue to a hidden treasure. The Clans then divided themselves into two groups, "North by Northeast" (N) and "Go West, Young Stud, Go West" (W). The teams would then hunt down the chess pieces and collect the clues. After solving the puzzle and finding the prize, a gong would sound and everyone, including the chessmen, would come together and share pie and stories of their adventures, knowing that the only true treasure in this world is friendship.

Now, my friend, you too may take part in this Game. Twelve chess pieces have been set free (placed in local caches). Ten contain clues to solve a puzzle needed to find the coordinates to a cache. As fellow cachers, we know you already carry the treasure of Friendship with you.

THE RULES: To collect the clues you MUST move the chess piece from one cache to another in a timely manner, as others may want to play. So no holding the piece for weeks on end! When you move a piece you MUST log that you took the chess piece, on that cache's cache page. Remember the Chess piece are considered trade items,so if you take one you should leave something of equal or greater value. You MUST also log when you leave a chess piece. (Only way there is to track the little buggers). You MUST keep the pieces between Longitudes 82 45.000 and 80 00.000 and Latitudes 27 30.000 and 25 00.000. You MUST move at least 10 pieces to be eligible to claim the final cache, albeit that you may only need four pieces to solve the puzzle.

Each team member that plans on logging the final cache MUST move 10 pieces. The “team” only logs one find. Whereas, if you are caching with a partner, and each have your own gc.com caching ID, then each person must move 10 pieces, separately and independently.

Example: If you are partners with separate gc.com ID’s like, say, “FozzyBear” and “FaceOff” you must move, for example: the white knight from cache GCY to cache GCX as “FozzyBear”, and than again from cache GCX to cache GCZ as “FaceOff”. Where as if you are “2 Cool 4 School”, you need only move the piece once from cache GCY to cache GCX.

HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED: From the clues attached to the chess pieces, you must determine: a) The color of each Clan’s kilt for the final feast on Saturday night. (Members of a Clan always dress alike.) b) The number of pies each Clan ate, and c) Where each Clan sat in relationship to the Emperor. The Emperor sat at the head of the table while the Swampy Bottoms sat at the far end. All members of the “N” team sat to the left of the Emperor and the ”W” team sat to the right. Subtract the number of pies the Clan ate from the number assigned for the kilt color below arrange the number per the seating chart and you will have the coordinates to the cache.
