Five fictitious local Geocaching teams were all very keen, if not
somewhat obsessed with claiming First to Find (FTF) honours, for
the caches published in the area in which they all lived. In their
rush or maybe excitement to claim & log a FTF they were all
guilty of committing the odd misdemeanour. From the clues given
below you will first need to work out which GPSr each team used,
what their preferred method of travel was when out caching &
what misdemeanour they were guilty of.
1. The team known as Packaanorak preferred to go caching on
horseback; TA&S used a GPSr from the Garmin GPS 60 range, and
in their rush to log their FTF’s were guilty of placing their
finds back in the wrong place.
2. Ninja’s Dagger (who used a Geko GPSr), were not the
team who failed to put the lids back on the caches, that they had
found first – those who did were also not the team that chose
to walk, as their preferred method of travel.
3. Neither the caching team who failed to replace the lids of
caches properly (who preferred to travel by lorry when out
caching), nor the drunken pair Corker & Portly (hence the name)
used an Oregon GPSr.
4. The team that preferred to cycle when out trying to claim a
FTF was not the team who always wrote spoilers when logging their
finds.
5. The team that were notorious for leaving the caches that they
had found first without any camouflage used a GPS 60.
6. The team that chose to travel by pony & trap when
searching for a FTF used a Garmin GPS 60 CSX.
The table below will help you match up who used what, how they
travelled and what misdemeanour they committed. When complete, you
will be able to match 6 different pieces of information for each
team, these are:
1. Team – GPSr.
2. Team – Method of Travel.
3. Team – Misdemeanour.
4. GPSr – Method of travel.
5. GPSr – Misdemeanour
6. Method of travel – Misdemeanour.
Now from the table above enter all the numbers in the squares
where your information matches for each team, into the following
table and the work out the totals.
Now, calculate the following sum to work out the cache
co-ordinates.
N 52.13.A-B W 000.01.C+D-E
NB. The co-ordinates given at the top of the page are for the
suggested parking spot when going to search for this cache.
