Geocache Description:

This is a micro-cache located on the Bristol Bath Railway path. As will all Micro-cache's you will need to bring a pencil. The cache is located within a grassy area bounded by the old station grounds. After heavy rain the ground can get a triffle boggy.

Mangotsfield railway station was a station on the Midland Railway Bristol and Gloucester main line and was situated about five miles to the north east of Bristol in what is now the suburb of Mangotsfield. The station formed the junction for the Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line which led to the Bath Green Park railway station and on southwards over the the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway to Bournemouth. Now with the railway gone, it forms a very pleasant stop on the Bristol and Bath Railway path. All that is left are two platforms and a strange triangular piece of grass bounded on three sides by high walls. The grass space is popular with dog walkers, people with young children and in summer makes for an ideal picnic spot. One further piece of trivia is that this station apparently provided Arnold Ridley (Private Godfrey in Dad's Army) with the inspiration for his stage play – The Ghost Train. FTF Kudos to Chaotica_UK, a suitable reward will be heading towards you in due course.
