Liikkalan Nootti - The Liikkala Note Multi-cache

Tämä kolmiosainen multikätkö liittyy Kustaa III:n sotaan vuosina 1788-1790. Liikkalan sotaleiristä Ruotsin armeijan upseerit lähettivät 9. elokuuta 1788 Venäjän keisarinnalle Katariina II:lle ns. Liikkalan nootin. Kirjeessä upseerit kertoivat huomanneensa, että aloitettu sota on Ruotsin kannalta oikeudeton. Kirjoittajat toivoivat Ruotsin ja Venäjän naapurisopua ja esittivät, että tämän edistämiseksi Venäjä luovuttaisi Ruotsille Turun rauhassa 1743 saamansa ns. Vanhan Suomen alueen eli Kaakkois-Suomen. Rauhantahtoaan vakuuttaakseen upseerit olivat jo vetäneet joukkonsa Ruotsin puolelle rajaa.

This three-stage multicache is associated with Gustaf III's Russian War of 1788-1790. On 9th of August 1788 Swedish army officers sent a note to the Tsarina Catherine the Great from the camp of Liikkala. The note is known as the Liikkala note. On the note the officers declared the war to be illegal, asked for peace among Sweden and Russia and set forth that Russia could cede the so-called Old Finland area known as south-east Finland to Sweden according to the Treaty of Turku 1743. As the officers wanted to convince the Tsarina, they had withdrawn their troops on the Swedish side of the border.

The given coordinates take you to the stone commemorating the note, revealed in celebration of 200 years of note. There is no cache box, but you’ll find useful information.
