#Bonus Titchfield Wander Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bernie The Geocacher: Time is up on this series and I am archiving it due to recent lids being lost and no comments that somebody has dropped them by mistake and said nothing. Rather than transfer these caches, I would rather open up the area to somebody else. It's been a great series and having received an incredible number of visits and great comments, it's time to bring this to an end. Thank you so much everybody who has done the series and given favourite votes and great comments. This area will get populated again by others fairly quickly I expect, so come back again and enjoy the area. Caches will be removed this weekend.

Geocache Description:

The Cache is NOT at the above coordinates!!!

A walk of about 5 miles round trip and you should allow 2.5 to 3 hours which includes this bonus. Allow more time if you do more than the walk.

The walk along the Titchfield Canal is superb and it will take you down past the Titchfield National Nature Reserve and out to the Solent where you will experience wonderful views of the Isle of Wight. You will see a variety of wildlife during your walk depending on what time of year you do the walk. As I was setting the walk I saw baby ducklings and trout in the canal, Canada Geese in the reserve and so many birds singing. The path in the winter months can often be very muddy and wet so do come prepared, it is generally dry from May onwards.

Clues need to be collected from Cache number 1 to number 12 to enable you to get the Bonus Cache at the end. Not every container has a clue so watch out, but two of them have ½ of the answers you need in case you missed one.

There is often an Ice Cream van on the seafront if you keep going from number 14 and also some public toilets. If you are going for the bonus, why not visit the Titchfield Haven Visitor Centre as well, it is only a short walk away. Admission to the centre is free, but you can also buy an access ticket to the reserve itself from here. Opening times in the summer are from 09.30 to 17.00 and 16.00 hrs in the winter. The centre is closed on Monday’s and Tuesdays, but open on Bank Holidays.

The terrain rating is set as an average for the route and it is higher in winter. Currently about a 2.5

Note about the containers:-

All of the containers are small and only very small coins or TB’s will fit.

All of the containers are FIXED so please do not try and remove them, you can access the screw lids and remove the logbook easily. The Bonus is a film canister not a screw lid. That one got muggled!!.

NO CACHES ARE ON THE GROUND

Please bring your own pen

There is no need to disturb anything whilst searching for these caches, just LOOK very carefully and you should see what ordinary passers by will not.

Always look left and right before going in for the cache because this is also a very popular area for locals to walk, but they always pass by fairly quickly.

Have a fun time and do bring your dogs and children because they will love a swim in the canal. That's the dogs, not the children!!

I am grateful to Hampshire County Council Countryside Services, for their permission to place the caches along the Titchfield Canal which includes an SSSI and Nature Reserve.
The coordinates will take you to the final search area.

***** Please use the hint for this one as the cache has now been replaced and put in a slightly different place due to the cover being removed from the area. Please reposition covering it as best you can. Thank you *****
