Geocache Description:

Mt. Aix

Take the Bumping lake road from Hwy 410. Once you hit the gravel road continue 3.8 miles to the signed trailhead. The road is bumpy and washboardy but if you go slow, any type of vehicle could make it. When in doubt go up. There are plenty of camping areas near the trailhead. You'll need to fill out a wilderness tag and attach it to your pack at the trailhead. A forest service pass is also required at the trailhead.

This is not for the faint of heart.

This is not for children.

This is not for switchback haters.

This is for folks that need views!

Unbelievable 360 degree views!

Let's get this straight, this trail means business. It's about 6 miles one way. The last mile and a half are on a dangerous loose rock trail wedged into the side of a very steep slope. Right from the start you are going up. And up is where you'll be when you hit your first sign, 3.8 miles in at Nelson's Ridge. The little sign is surprisingly confusing. You can't even see Mt. Aix from here. Go East. You'll drop and gain and traverse around until you see your goal. At this point feel free to swear loudly. I won't hear you. Follow the hard to follow trail, then your GPS to the cache, then the summit. Take lots of water and lots of pictures!

Approximate cache elevation is 7,600 feet.

There are tons of great websites detailing the hike to Aix. Try a quick websearch before you go for additional information.

Always hike prepared!
