Welcome to the Barrier Island Center
This cache has been placed with permission of the Barrier Island Center (BIC). The BIC is located within the heart of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge and is part of the Brevard County's Environmentally Endangered Lands program (EEL). The 34 acre sanctuary invites visitors to explore the diverse habitats only found on the barrier island. The center itself provides hands on educational experiences to visitors which includes exhibits, nature films, special programs and even has a class room for field trips.. This center also has nature trails, including a boardwalk that allows you to visit various habitats that the barrier island has to offer. The BIC also partners with the Sea Turtle Conservancy which provides support for the BICs gift shop, volunteer coordination and educational outreach including guided sea turtle hikes in June and July. The BIC also organizes beach clean up work parties throughout the year. If any cacher or caching group are interested in setting up a CITO, please inquire contact BIC directly.
The Cache
As noted above, this cache was placed with permission by the BIC managers. (Brad Manley, Public Use Coordinator, Brevard County) The cache is just down the boardwalk from the BIC. This is a daylight cache only. Parking is available either at the BIC parking lot to the north or at Bonsteel Park. Either way you will have a nice walk to the cache. No need to veer far off trail and bushwack to find this cache. PROTECT THE HABITAT
