The coordinates are for the upper parking lot. The upper parking lot holds 8 cars and is free. The lower parking lot holds 200 cars and has a parking fee of $6 or so. It is one mile from the lower lot to the upper. I suggest everyone meet at the upper lot/ trailhead at 10:00. If you have a Shenandoah Park Pass, parking is free.
Come one, come all to the 1st annual Novago Old Rag Mountain Hike and picnic lunch. Climb Old Rag and have a picnic with a few of your comrades. This event is open to everyone except dogs which are not permitted on the trail. Old Rag is the premier hiking destination in Virginia. It is a strenuous hike with a fair amount of bouldering too. It can be done in 2-5 hours by just about any able-bodied person. I've climbed it twice and have seen small children, dogs and 80 year old grannies along the way. It has incredible views all along the trail as well as plenty of opportunities to see some wildlife.
So, pack a lunch, don some boots, and be at the upper parking lot by 10:00 am.
