It's time to shake off the stupor of the Thanksgiving feast and free yourself from the Black Friday weekend mobs! Every year, the trees on 360 (Capital of Texas Highway) are decorated for Christmas, This is the fifth year the Central Texas Geocachers have joined in the tradition. Bring your geocaching themed ornament(s) for a tree decorating flash mob! The event will be held on Sunday from 11:30 to noon,, RAIN OR SHINE, in the 8000 block Capital of TX Highway, just SW of Spicewood Springs Rd. There is plenty of roadside parking; take care to pull fully on to the shoulder. Afterwards, we will gather at another event for eats, drinks, and story-telling.
As usual, Kittydcota is leading the way with boxes full of ornaments, both purchased and hand-made, and we'll once again use a chain garland in the colors of the geocaching logo as our "log book." Let's all get creative and bring something geocaching-themed to make our tree stand out! As usual, we will choose environmentally responsible decorative materials (no glass or icicles that could hurt someone or clog our waterways), and there will once again be a CITO event to clean up our decorations and the surrounding area, as well.
Decorating a Christmas tree is most definitely a family friendly activity; but remember, we are on the side of a busy highway, so if small children or pets come with your group they will need to be closely monitored. Be sure to be punctual; this tree-trimming never takes more than the alloted thirty minutes. We'll see you there!
