Geocache Description:

I want to do a series of caches along Symmes Creek in Ohio. The first few will be at the canoe launch sites established by Symmes Creek Restoration Committee located in Arabia, Aid, Willow Wood, Getaway, Sky Lake and Chesapeake. This cache is located at the Aid canoe launch site. So grab your canoe or kayak and enjoy Symmes Creek while Geocaching. Also remember to Cache In Trash Out.

This one has changed a little. See below

This cache was placed with permission of The Symmes Creek Restoration Committee. (SCRC) (visit link) .The mission of the Symmes Creek Restoration Committee is to promote sound stewardship and ecological practices in the Symmes Creek Watershed by emphasizing its beauty, recreational opportunities, and value to local communities.

The Symmes Creek Restoration Committee was incorporated in May of 1977 as a not-for-profit corporation. Our primary activity during the first 18 years was removal of logjams along Symmes Creek and promotion of a 14-mile “Canoeathon.” In the late 1990’s, our focus expanded to include stewardship of the entire watershed. In 1998, we were awarded an EPA 319 grant to establish a Long Range Management & Action Plan for the Symmes Creek watershed. The resulting plan is the basis for our efforts to raise public interest in the water quality in Symmes Creek by promoting recreation on the creek and improving land management practices near the creek.

SCRC is working on a number of projects aimed at improving recreational opportunities on Symmes Creek and promoting stewardship of the creek and its watershed.
In 2005, with the help of the Lawrence County Commissioners, SCRC cleared and reopened the boat ramp at Chesapeake, Ohio. The Committee continues to work with partners to maintain the ramp.
We hold two major canoeing events each year; a 10-mile float in June and a raffle and creek clean-up in August. We also hold a canoe-camping trip at Timbre Ridge Lake each fall, in addition to several floats down the creek to clean up litter and remove logjams. We are currently working on establishing a 30-mile canoe trail along the southern portion of Symmes Creek.
You can learn more about SCRC at their web site @: (visit link)

The cache you are looking for is a 4 X 6” Sterilite ultra latch container (may be referred to as a lock and lock). There is not any cameo on it at this time. It is big enough to hold small items and travel bugs. Racky Raccoon is there waiting to start his travels around other streams and lakes where canoeing and kayaking can be enjoyed. Sign the log, trade items and place back as you found it. AND remember to Cache In Trash Out.

Congrats to Clive_and_Juliana for FTF

The coords have changed. I moved the location hopefully out of the high water so it won't float away. It may still be in high water when the creek is up but it should not get covered with water itself. You will need someone 5' 7" or taller to help get to the cache.
