This cache is your chance to quickly get away from the hustle and bustle of the road and take in a little nature. It's an easy-to-find cache very close to Interstate 40 and with a beautiful view of Tucumcari Mountain. It only takes a few minutes to get to it from I-40 or one of the nearby truck stops, and it's well worth the time.
MOUNTAIN VIEW CACHE
The cache is a few feet off of a very lightly traveled frontage road close to Interstate 40. The road itself is paved but, beside the road where the cache is, there are some cacti and thorny mesquite plants. The growth is not dense and contact with it is not required to retrieve the cache. There are also small rocks and a shallow wash (usually dry) nearby, so watch your step. Beware of snakes, including diamondback rattlers.
NOTES:
- In 2016, trackable Tutenstein was reported missing. However, even though it's lost, it still appears in this cache's inventory for some unknown reason. If you're visiting this cache looking for Tutenstein, you will be disappointed.
- The maps used by some GPS devices list the road number incorrectly.
