No need to look for clues or do maths this time, but linger in this tranquil place, look at the plaque on the nearby memorial cairn, plus the nearby information board, and remember. From this accident came the impetus for reform of Australia’s air navigation system, with benefits to air travellers to the present day.
Note that we saw many walkers in the area while we were there. No hints, although if you want more information on this tragic event, you can start here or here, or search further on Google. Also, 25th October 2018 marks the 80th Anniversary of the crash. There is to be a Remembrance Service there on Saturday 27th October 2018. See here for details. The cache container is a mega bison, and is not buried. When replacing the lid, please do not over-tighten or the o-ring will be distorted. Good luck.
Please be careful when removing and replacing the cache from it's hiding place - force is not needed. Also, please replace it securely and so that it can't be seen, and don't give anything away in your log.
