Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the coordinates listed above. The coordinates listed above are for the entrance to Croton Point Park in Croton-On-Hudson. The cache is hidden in the park. You will need to get the coordinates for this ammo box cache from your Captain, the intrepid explorer Henry Hudson.

Hint! This is a log from the diary of a British sailor aboard Henry Hudson's ship the Halve Maen (Half Moon in English).

October 7. 1609

After sailing up this mighty river for twelve leagues, we found this passage to be too shallow. Mr. Hudson's latest attempt to find an all-water passage to the Orient has ended in failure. We are now headed back to the Netherlands with the unwelcome task of informing the directors of the Dutch East Indies Company that we did not find a Northwest passage to the Far East. To soften the blow, Mr. Hudson wants to bring back some trinkets and other booty that he received from the local natives in trade. The savages have grown hostile to our presence however and Mr. Hudson does not want to expose the ship or the crew to any undue risk. So he is sending a small armed party ashore to find the cache of trinkets he safely stowed away in these parts weeks before the Half Moon headed up the "River of Mountains" as Mr. Hudson calls it (the Indians call it "Muhheakunnuk"). Our party’s mission is to avoid the natives and find Mr. Hudson's cache. Once ashore, Mr. Hudson will signal us with the location of the booty.

Avoid all Indians and other indigenous people and find Mr. Hudson's cache. Good luck! Be aware that there are two possible solutions to the puzzle. There is no math involved. When you plot the solutions out, keep the terrain rating in mind and use common sense (or, failing that, the encrypted clue below). Please rehide the cache exactly as you found it and cover completely with leaf litter.

There is no admission fee and no park pass required to enter this park. The park is open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to dusk, year-round. Dogs are allowed but they must be on a leash. In wintertime, keep your eyes peeled for Bald Eagles. In summertime, look out for the Clearwater Festival.

Free counters provided by Andale.
