Doubting Thomas Mystery Cache
zgrav: I think that the time has come for the cache to be archived. It survived throughout and notwithstanding several significant landscaping challenges over the years, and now it is time to make this area available for a new cache placement.

A small cache hidden in an urban setting that commemorates Major General George H. Thomas, a career U.S. Army officer and a Union general during the American Civil War who was known as the "Rock of Chickamauga".
NOTE -- over time the container and hide has changed so this IS NO LONGER a "MYSTERY CACHE". The story is told of the cacher Thomas. He peered at the statue of the man on a horse, and stared in vain at the many small metal pickets that surrounded the scene. And he missed the wonder of the landscape itself, an island of green amidst a swirl of cars heading out to many different destinations across the city, travelling outward on the spokes of the giant wheel. As his frustration overrode his determination, he loudly procaimed the absence of that which he sought, though his doubt, like his search, was unfounded.
Replaced cache and updated coordinates October 2009. Please treat the cache gently, and replace it carefully after you sign the log. Sorry, but no room for trades. Be careful crossing the streets to get there, and use stealth when searching.
The cache is located three blocks from the McPherson Square metro staion. Street parking is available but unpredictable. While searching for the cache, be sure to take a few minutes to appreciate the stunning architecture on the surrounding buidlings and unique views down the streets that radiate from the area.
