This is a simple earthcache which takes you to Puerto Naos beach.
La Palma´s beaches predominantly consist of fine black volcanic sands or pebbles.
At the coordinates´position a big, solitary volcanic rock is located.
This solitary rock is a very special landform standing out from its surrounding beach area. From its layered structure and colour one can gather that several lava flows were coming through on top of each other.
The fact that this isolated rock has remained suggests that its lava strata were harder than those around it which have been eroded by fluvial and marine erosion throughout thousands of years.
Please answer now the following questions:
1. Guess the height of this rock.
2. How long is the approximate circumference of the base of this rock? During the high tide a rough guess is accepted.
3. In which section of this rock can you see that the lava flow was gassy and how does it show?
4. If possible, take a picture showing yourself or your GPS on Puerto Naos beach.

Dies ist ein einfacher Earthcache, der dich an den Strand von Puerto Naos führt.
La Palmas Strände bestehen meist aus schwarzem, feinen Lavasand oder Lavakies.
An den Koordinaten befindet sich ein einzelner, großer Felsblock aus vulkanischem Gestein.
Dieser einzeln stehende Fels ist eine spezielle Erscheinung in der Umgebung des Strandes. Aus seiner Schichtstruktur und Farbe ist erkennbar, dass hier mehrere Lavaströme übereinander entlang geflossen sind.
Die Tatsache, dass dieser isolierte Felsen stehen geblieben ist, legt nahe, dass seine Lavaschichten härter waren, als die der Umgebung. Diese wurde durch Jahrtausende lange fluviale und marine Erosion ausgeräumt.
Beantworte bitte nun folgende Fragen:
1. Schätze die Höhe des Felsblockes.
2. Messe ungefähr den Umfang dieses Felsens. Bei Flut genügt eine Schätzung.
3. In welchem Bereich des Felsens sieht man, dass hier gasreiche Lava floss und woran erkennt man dies?
4. Wenn möglich, mache ein Bild mit dir oder deinem GPS am Strand von Puerto Naos.

Eso es un Earthcache facil, que te lleva a la playa de Puerto Naos. Las playas negras de La Palma son de negro, fino arena de lava o grava de lava.
En los puntos coordinates se encuentra un grande bloque roscoso de roca volcánica.
Ese bloque es un fenómeno muy especial en ese territorio. De la estructura y del color se puede distinguir differentes corrientes de lava.
El facto que todavia existe alli isolado nos muestra que los estratos de lava son mas fuerte que los de alrededores. Los de alrededores fueron aplanado de rios y del mar sobre milenio.
Responda las siguientes preguntas:
1. ¿Que piensas que altura tiene el bloque rocoso?
2. Mide el tamaño del bloque rocoso. Si hay marea alta solamente tienes que calcularlo.
3. ¿En que parte del bloque rocoso se puede ver que habia un corriente de lava con gas? ¿En qué lo reconoces?
4. Si es posible toma un foto con vos o con el GPS en la playa de Puerto Naos.
