Geocache Description:

St Mary the Virgin & The Holy Rood (Old Church)

Little Chart Old Church was built between 1200 and 1500 when the tower was built.
In WW1, despite being in the middle of nowhere, it had a direct hit by an off-course V1 Doodlebug Flying Bomb that demolished most of the building.
The church tower and part of the chancel remains as a memorial to the church, which was replaced by a new one opened in 1955 in the village.
It is owned by Ashford Borough Council and is open at any time to view.

The churchyard is reputed to be haunted so it might be worth a visit after midnight ! If you don't sign the log book don't log it online.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list
