Geocache Description:

This is a good place to begin following the Hanover Branch Railroad and learn some history along the way. This will be an 9 part cache series, we hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.

The Hanover Branch Railroad was incorporated in 1846, but it was not until July 18, 1868 that it finally opened for traffic. A meeting of the stockholders was held on February 6, 1846 at the Howard House Hotel. (It appears that it took about 12 years to build the Hanover section.) The railroad tracks never came this far, but the stockholders meeting that formed the railroad was held at this location which is now a parking lot. This section of town is called the Hanover 4 Corners.

This is a very high muggle area due to the local coffee shop, Mary Lou's News. You can read more information and see pictures of the railroad on the kiosk.

You will see no tracks in Hanover until the last Cache as they have all been removed or on private property. The only 3 Train Stations in Hanover have all been demolished!

This series will lead you through Hanover and you will learn about the Hanover Branch Railroad.
