This is a cache along Buzzard Swamp Road in Forest county. My grandfather who was a Wildlife Conservation Officer in Forest county use to bring me here a lot when I was younger. I would ride along with him while he trapped, tagged and released black bears gathering information. Spending time with him in the great outdoors will be something that I will always cherish. Buzzard Swamp is a 11.2 mile system of inter-connecting trails offers some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in the Allegheny National Forest. The area is an important link in the Atlantic flyway during the waterfowl migration. Fifteen man-made ponds were constructed in the early 1960’s in partnership with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Buzzard Swamp is within a special management area that emphasizes wildlife management and recreational opportunities. This cache is placed in the Allegheny National Forest. Please wear orange during hunting season & check yourself for ticks. I hope you enjoy and have fun exploring the area. BYOP & CITO where you can and replace the cache exactly as you found it for others to enjoy. This is a picture of my grandfather who was a Wildlife Conservation Officer for the PA Game Commission in Forest County for 30+ year.
