Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in beautiful Devil's Lake State Park. The cache was named "Devil's Delight" for a number of reasons. First, the hike to the cache will take you past a number of interesting rock formations (Balanced Rock, and Devil's Doorway) and the views of Devil's Lake and the surrounding Baraboo Hills are "delightful". Secondly, there is a local road a couple miles SE of the Park named Devil's Delight Rd. Finally, one of our favorite ski runs at our local ski hill is named Devil's Delight (black diamond terrain).
The Geocache Notification Form 2500-118 has been submitted to the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. Please print out a paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the land manager. The DNR Notification Form and land manager information can be obtained at (visit link)
The cache is located in the South Shore hiking/activity area of the Park. There is parking nearby. There are lovely picnic areas along the lake, swimming, and concessions in the summer months.
The cache is located just off of the East Bluff Trail. This trail can be accessed from the South by taking either the Balanced Rock Trailhead, the Potholes Trail (most direct route), or the CCC Trail. All 3 trails climb steeply along a well-made trail to the top of the bluff. The trail is steep (500 feet elevation gain) to the top no matter which way you go, but the steps are very well laid out (by the CCC in the 1930's). The hike is between 0.5 and 1 mile one way to the cache. Despite the climb the views are worth it. While you are in the area, make sure to see Balanced Rock and Devil's Doorway. There are excellent maps at all the trailheads and the signage along the way is very clear. The trail tends to be busy in the summer months with other hikers, so watch out for muggler activity.
