West Midlands 2022
Fauld Explorer Trail
Take a look behind you back towards Tutbury and its castle on the hill. The prominent ruined tower is a Victorian folly but the site has been a castle since Norman times, and the town was listed in the Domesday book with 42 ‘burgesses’ – households who live only through trade, one of the largest 20% trading towns in England!
The whole area would have been far more forested at the time, with the flood plains and meadows therefore prime real estate for livestock. Trees like this magnificent example have always been important.
You’ll need a tall person for this cache.
