Cwm Village Vexation Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lindiana Jones: I am sorry to archive this as it was passed to me by someone else to look after. After being robbed of all contents twice and then going missing I couldn't find a good enough place for it and I then moved away from the area so can no longer keep it going x

Geocache Description:

Cache site is outside St Mael and St Suliens church, on the lane. With parking right up to the cache. All the lanes that lead to Cwm are very narrow, so do take extra care when driving to this cache.

Fascinating facts. The Welsh word 'Cwm', meaning a circular hollow, has been adopted as a geographical term for a hollow formed by a glacier. The village of Cwm nestles in a hollow but there are excellent views of the Vale of Clwyd and the Irish sea from the surrounding high ground. The church of St Malo and St Julians has been the site of religious worship since the 7th Century. The well of St Malo and St Julians can still be seen as a trough in the vicarage wall. The well reputedly cured eye inflammation. Much of the surrounding land and property is part of Bodrhyddan Estate, home of Lord Langford.Coed Cwm is an important source of timber having been originally planted by the Forestry Commission in 1940. The Blue Lion nearby dates back to the 16th Centuary. This was one of the first farmhouses that was granted the licence to act as a public house. The ghost of John Henry, a farmhand, still haunts the pub ! An interesting local website (visit link) .
Inspired by Motorway Mayhems and A-Road Anarchys, taking you off the beaten track via B-roads into "Vexatious Villages". This follows a similar vein so will be fairly easy for those who have found some of the aforementioned series and a challenge if you haven't.
