Seminole County is getting trashed! Let's gather together and see what we can do to correct the problem!
It's CITO time again, and all across Seminole County, muggles have been working diligently to ensure that we have lots of trash to pick up. Surely you wouldn't want to disappoint them, right? LOL!
I'd like to try something a little different this year. Rather than just hitting one Wilderness Area in Seminole County, I'd like to try hosting a CITO that covers them all. Pretty ambitious, you ask? With the dedicated cachers of Central Florida, I think we can pull it off.
Here's the game plan:
Look at the list of Wilderness Areas, and select the one(s) you'd like to hit.
Post a "Will Attend", listing which area you're heading to.
After you're done picking up trash, bring it to the posted coords.
(If you have a car, you should double bag everything so it doesn't leak)
Schmooze & eat some hotdogs, courtesy of Clan Riffster's somewhat adequate cooking skills.
I'll be CITO'ing at the posted coords, the Lil Big Econ Canoe Launch, and you are welcome to join me there. Of all the areas listed, this is the one most in need of clean up. The other area in critical need is the Lake Jessup Wilderness Area, mainly around the boat ramp. The other areas really just need a couple folks to tidy up the parking lots. If you go to Spring Hammock Preserve, watch your kids. It seems that some guys like to meet for, uh, alternative romance.
There are many caches at the listed Wilderness Areas, for you to seek as you CITO. I'll be hiding another one in honor of our efforts.
If you CITO with me, I'll have trash bags, bug spray, water and sun screen. If you CITO one of the other areas, you can provide your own, or swing by the posted coords and pick stuff up on your way. Gloves, long sleeves, long pants, sturdy boots and a hat should be mandatory equipment, but you are welcome to dress however you wish. Ideally, I'd like to get all of our trash in one spot, (the posted coords), after the CITO, so Seminole County can pick it all up at once. If you can't bear to toss bunches of trash bags full of stinky stuff in your car, I understand. Just leave it in an out of the way spot in the parking lot and I'll let them know where it's at.
I'll be starting around 8:00am, and lighting the grill around noon. When you get to the posted coords, you'll find us under the bridge. If you don't see the bridge, just follow the smell of burning hotdogs. For those who CITO at the posted coords, and those who bring their trash there from other areas, there will be a contest for the most trash collected. Please mark your bags so you'll know which ones are yours when it's time to judge.
See y'all there!
-Sean
