Geocache Description:

A tour/adventure Wherigo in the Arnold Arboretum. The Wherigo should take about an hour.

The cache is a small container outside the arboretum. The cache started with a log book, pen, a trackable, and some small items.

This Wherigo is a tour/adventure in the Arnold Arboretum near the Hunneywell Visitor Center, which includes additional maps, bathrooms, and water fountains. Our tests suggest that completion of the Wherigo will take about an hour. The walk is about 1-1.5 miles. Please stay on the paths as much as possible.

The Arnold Arboretum is open from dawn to dusk. Please respect the rules of the Arboretum. Be sure to check their webpage to see what is in bloom before you visit. This cache has been placed with permission of the Arboretum.

Parking is available at the coordinates listed. It may be difficult on weekend afternoons when the weather is nice. Parking on side streets in Jamaica Plain is also an option. http://arboretum.harvard.edu/visit/

Tips for successful completion:

* Read carefully; we indicate exactly what you need to do at each step. If you get stuck, check characters and items for tasks.

The zones were made large on purpose; we want to be sure people stay on paths and account for the variability in GPS signal. Sometimes the zero may not be at the exact tree or plant, but look around a bit and you can find it.

* Save Early; Save Often.

What is a Wherigo Geocache?

Wherigo is a new way of utilizing GPS technology to play games, take tours, and, of course, geocache.

You can view the Wherigo FAQ for additional information or you can jump right into Wherigo.com to learn more about Wherigo GPS-enabled adventures, Play Anywhere cartridges, and the growing number of Wherigo geocaches.

Do I need special equipment?
Yes, you will need two items:
1. A Wherigo-enabled device
2. The Arboretum Adventure Wherigo Cartridge

Wherigo enabled devices:
Garmin Colorado
Garmin Nuvi 500
Garmin Oregon
iPhone with the Wherigo app
Android with the WhereYouGo app
Pocket PC with the Wherigo Player

Playing the Game
Once you have the Player ready to go, you will need to log in at Wherigo.com using your Geocaching.com account login to download the Arboretum Adventure.gws cartridge. You will run the cartridge from the device's Wherigo Player, not from the Geocaching application.

Logging your Wherigo find on Wherigo.com offers some additional options:
1. Write Log
2. Unlock the cartridge by Uploading your Save Game
3. Unlock the cartridge by Entering the Unlock Code

Unlocking the cartridge on Wherigo.com is not required, but it would be greatly appreciated. After you've completed the cartridge you will get a completion code. Save this number as it will allow you to rate the cartridge on Wherigo.com. It will also help track the number of completions for this cartridge. While this is not strictly required, it would be greatly appreciated.

Please remember that we would appreciate your feedback. We want to know about your experience (good or bad); this will help us to adapt the Arboretum Adventure cartridge for future users. Please be sure to mention your device type in your log.

Cache is a regular, camo plastic container with a log book and a pen. The cache is hidden outside the arboretum. There may be some slight bushwhacking to make the find. The cache may not be accessible in significant snow.
