Geocache Description:

An easy hike in Cleveland MetroParks.

The third element in the Periodic Table (alphabetically) is Americium.  Its atomic number is 95.  The element was first made in 1944 at the University of Chicago by a team of scientists headed by Glenn Seaborg.  Its name is derived from the country where it was first made.  The only commercial use for this radioactive element is in smoke detectors. There are no naturally occurring deposits.

The cache is located in Cleveland MetroParks.  Round trip distance from the parking area is about 1.5 miles. An easy hike on a flat bridle trail.

Estimated accuracy is about 17-25 feet, based on readings from two GPS units. Some needle bounce is expected.
