Geocache Description:

*SOME BRIEF WARNINGS* (but also some insight into the beautiful wildlife and geology of the area).

1. This cache has been moved and muggled several times, PLEASE PUT IT BACK EXACTLY AS YOU FOUND IT and leave any corrective action to meAlso, I have had to correct the coordinates many times. Even on a good day, GPS signals have been misleading. I have taken readings several times on 2 different GPS and have been messaged other peoples readings. They are often different even when standing by the cache.

2. This area is very fragile in many respects. Large portions of the surrounding terrain are constantly breaking and shifting. For your safety and in the interest of preserving the rock formations and preventing erosion, try to stick to solid ground/sand or at least look for solid rock if you need to climb during high tide to get to GZ. Once you are at GZ you do not have to climb very high or precarious places to find the cache.

3. The flora and fauna here is sometimes equally as fragile. Shrubs here are precious, it is very difficult to establish in these harsh, salty, sandy conditions and their roots help prevent erosion and shelter wildlife, be gentle with them. Endangered 'Hooded Plover' birds also nest in the fenced off grasses nearby, this area was recently expanded making it more difficult to access the cache from the sheltered beach side. You will never have to nor should you jump these fences when travelling to GZ or looking for the cache.

4. Finally, while easily accessed during low tide, terrain is more like a 4 during high tide. It is still very much accessible and will reward you with much less muggle activity, but may involve wading, brief, simple climbing/bouldering, and is much less kid friendly.

With that out of the way, ENJOY THE BEATIFUL AREA AND LET'S GET INTO THE CACHE!

This particular cache is situated on the "point" of Point Roadnight Beach. This beach is great for swimming and bringing the whole family. It is shallow quite far out and there are rarely strong currents and rips. There is surf for longboarders and on a good day you can catch a wave from right at the point all the way in to the boat ramp. There is good snorkelling in the large rock pool that forms during low tide or off the point on a quiet day, and you will often see brave fishermen casting off the nearby rocks. The rockpools near this cache on the backbeach side hold a plethora of submerged and intertidal wildlife and are great to explore (once again at low tide).

The point itself is a large rock formation made primarily of sandstone that was once, several hundred thousand years ago, a submerged reef. The tectonics of old have created beatiful patterns and structures in the stone you can see as you approach GZ from the main beach side. These are highlighted both in log photos and in a nearby earthcache. The point is constantly changing as it is buffeted by elements and unfortunately, people. Even in the few years this cache has existed, GZ has changed dramatically as chunks of sandstone split and tumble away from the rest.

To get to this cache it is a short walk down either the front/main beach (Point Roadknight) or the backbeach, from the carpark I've marked in the waypoints. I would recommend approaching during low tide from the front beach as both alternatives can be more challenging (though experienced cachers might find this 'fun'). There is also an intermittantly open cafe and some picnic tables towards the middle of the main beach.

The cache itself is a small tupperware container containing a logbook, pencil (it may go missing so B.Y.O) and swappables. It is camoflauged to fit in with its surroundings and (as the logs sometimes reflect) well hidden.

I hope you enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you centure out to this cache.
Happii hunting and good luck.
