Geocache Description:

Located east of Alliance Nebraska in the famed Sand Hills. General Prairie terrian including grass, sandy soil, cactus and the rare but occasional snake. Well hidden with natural camoflage.

Standard 50 Cal. drab green ammo can. Located near the ruins of Nebraska's sandhills' Potash industry. This area was home to more than 2,000 people during and for a few years after World War I. Cheap Potash shipments from France and Germany ceased during the war and this boom town industry came to be. Now little more than foundations and shattered walls - the boom ended when cheap shipments from Europe resumed. Be sure to check out the Historical Marker along Hwy 2 near the cache. Scattered among the grass covered dunes are many of these structures. The ruins near the cache are located on private property and are NOT open to the public. Do not cross the fences while searching for this cache. Easy quick stop near this history. Ignore the online maps - there just aren't more than 2 streets left here.
