Geocache Description:

This cache is one of a series of 26, the Surrey A-Z, placed across the county by a team of 'Surrey Cachers'. The caches vary in type, size and difficulty, and each location has a different initial letter...

Surrey A-Z

'H' is for Hale.

To collect this cache, you will need to visit the two churches formed by Bishop Sumner in the 19th Century. At each location, you will need to find a piece of information and count the total number of times each of the letters of the name 'Hale' appear there.

At the posted co-ordinates (St Mark's Church), you will find a bench that was given to the church on 25th May 2002. The information you require is on the plaque on the bench and will give you values for H1, A1, L1 & E1

At the second waypoint, you will find a wooden notice board just inside the gate of St John's. You will need to count only the letters that are carved into this notice board. These will give you H2, A2, L2 & E2

The cache can be found at:

N 51 13.(H1+H2)(E1/E2)(A2-L2)

W 000 47.(A1/A2)(A1+E1-H1)(E2)
