Geocache Description:

Welcome to the North end of Seabranch State Park.  This gem of a park is between Port Salerno and Hobe Sound.  All the ccahes in this series have a fairly clear sand path to them and are close to the road.  There should be very little bush whacking to get them.

Ancient oceans shaped the physical landscape of this park, which allowed a variety of habitats to develop over time. Today, this preserve provides a unique opportunity to experience several different natural communities in a relatively short distance. In less than one mile, visitors can see rare sand pine scrub, scrubby flatwoods, a baygall community, and a mangrove swamp.

In the 1980s, the land that is now Seabranch Preserve State Park was slated to become a golf course community. In 1991, the State of Florida partnered with Martin County to purchase the property, which became a state park in 1992.

Hikers can explore these natural communities in over four miles of trails. A small picnic shelter is also available.

Access to the park is from State Road A1A near the VFW parking lot.  The Orange trail will get you to the general vicinity.  There are other caches along this trail.  You can also walk along the inside of the fence line on the fire break road along A1A also but it is not as nice a walk.

This is around a three mile hike so plan accordingly, good shoes and lots of water.  The trails are mostly sugar sand.
