Private Fort Knox Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

JPMZA: Late in 2014 the current owner of the property on which this cache is located, suffered an armed robbery at her house. The strangers coming to look for the cache on her property is currently making her uncomfortable and therefore she has requested that I should remove the cache. I am sad to do so as this was my first hide, but I fully understand her position and if she withdraws her consent for the cache being located on her property I have to respect that.

So long and thanks for all the fish . . .

Geocache Description:

About 6200 km south east of the real Fort Knox is my Private Fort Knox.

Fort Knox is the name by which most people know the United States
Bullion Depository located in Kentucky, USA. This fortified vault
building full of gold and operated by the United States Department
of Treasury is located in a large US Army post south of Louisville,
Kentucky, USA.

Since 1937 Fort Knox has been used to store precious and valuable
things. The main purpose of the vault is the storage of a large
part of the United States gold reserves. During the Second World
War various other precious items were also stored at Fort Knox.
These include the original US Declaration of Independence, US
Constitution and one of the copies of the Magna Carta.

My Private Fort Knox has been under construction since December
2007. At the end of May 2009 we relocated to this house in
Lonehill, Gauteng. Since then this humble abode of mine, fortified in true Gauteng style, was the home of all that is precious to me: my precious wife and children as well as my earthly possessions. We
enjoyed living in this area and there are lots of geocaches in the
vicinity that kept my daughter and I occupied during week-ends.

At the end of 2011 our family decided to make a lifestyle change. My wife and children have left the city and now live in the picturesque little Karoo Village called Nieu-Bethesda in the Eastern Cape. I still earn my living in Johannesburg, but I have moved to another part of town. I get to go home to Nieu-Bethesda regularly once a month.

With the kind approval of the new owner of my erstwhile Private Fort Knox, the cache remains. It is a traditional cache of regular size and should be an easy roadside find.
