Geocache Description:

A pleasant walk from Thornwell along the Wales Coast Path towards Chepstow. It'll take about 40 to 45 minutes round trip from the parking location.

The Wales Coast Path starts (or ends, depending which way you go) on the banks of the river Wye near Chepstow. This cache takes you on a short section from Thornwell towards Bulwark in Chepstow.

The first part of the footpath is a bit stony and bumpy but could be negotiated with a wheelchair or child buggy. Disabled cachers may need assistance to retrieve the actual cache.

The cache page coordinates are the start of the footpath where you'll find the first clue. How many striding figures are carved into the signpost? Add 2 to this to give you A.

At the second stage (FISH) you are looking for a silver fish, a salmon in fact. Count the number of spines (lines) on one side of the dorsal fin. How many are there? Take away 10 from this number to give you B.

The third stage (LEGS) You'll need to look up in the trees. How many legs does the bigger creature have? This gives you D and E (they are the same number).

As you walk to the next clue keep your eyes on the trees. Did you see the dragonfly and butterfly?

At the fourth and final clue (BUG) you get a great view of the river and bridges. To the left you can look upriver to Chepstow. To the right the Wye Bridge. Here you'll find an insect. What colour is it? The number of letters in the colour added to A gives you F. It has faded a bit but you should know what the creature is and what colour they are.

Now you can work out the final coordinates. The cache is at N51°37.ABC, W2°39.DEF. You have values for A, B, D, E and F. C=B-1. There is quite a bit of tree cover so you may need the hint.

If you continue along the path towards the road to return to the car park make sure you don't miss the other creatures. What did you spot?
