Geocache Description:

A modest hike over decent paths.

Blea tarn gill, 700 feet above Watendlath's 863 foot deep tarn, provides the tarn with its water. Water from Watendlath tarn flows into the beck of the same name and eventually feeds Lodore falls, and ends up in Derwent Water.

This beautiful 'picture postcard' valley is extremely sheltered and very still, not unlike the Buttermere Valley. A short walk from the hamlet of Watendlath takes you gradually to a point, before you reach the wetlands, where not only do you have a spectacular view over the tarn but also of the many neighbouring peaks - all this for very little effort indeed. Many paths lead to the tarn from Borrowdale and there are many walks originating from the area to take you to even higher levels without too much effort for even more spectacular views. The cache contains the usual small swaps and TB Derek the Dragon. 3.5/3.5
