Geocache Description:

Part of the Ferry Godmother series - a set of caches designed with the island-hopping geocacher in mind. Within walking distance of ferry waiting lines. Caches are quart-sized plastic containers containing the usual assortment of goodies, a log book and a pen. Be very careful not to be seen by muggles, which are everywhere in tourist season and on busy weekends! If you are vertically challenged, you may need help from someone a bit taller to reach this cache.

The 4 Franciscan nuns ran the ferry dock, marina and little country store for on Shaw Island for 27 years. However they decided to call it quits in mid 2004 and left the island. An historic era of Shaw Island's history is now at an end. The ferry dock and store are now run by the Mason family who are constantly asked by the tourists, "Where did the nuns go?" Of course there's a lot more to the story than what I've told you here, but this is the quick and dirty version! This cache is a green lock 'n' lock container containing small items, a pen, and a logbook.

Be sure to check out the general store! It has a feel of days-gone-by. And treat yourself to a delicious meal at the small cafe in the back of the store. Great way to wait for the ferry!
