Geocache Description:

Please join us for Coastal Cleanup Day at Venice Beach, CA for another Cache In Trash Out (CITO) week! Our efforts will focus on trash removal & volunteers will earn the second CITO souvenir.

Saturday, September 17, 2016, 9 AM - 12 PM (pls help for atleast for 1 hr), 300 Ocean Front Walk @ Rose Avenue (Tower Rose). The morning w/ start with a brief training session & waiver/log signing, and end w/ the obligatory group picture behind trash/recycle buckets.

Background: Coastal Cleanup Day happens all around the world on the third Saturday in September. Here in the Westside, Heal the Bay hosts several cleanup sites from Palisades to Playa del Rey. The West LA Geocachers selected Venice Beach as this beach needs the most TLC. Volunteers of all ages and physical abilities are welcome and no special equipment or experience is necessary. Higher terrain rating is for the sandy terrain.

Parking: FREE parking for volunteers at Beach Parking Lot on Rose Avenue with a parking pass. However, carpooling is always recommended. This location is also accessible via the 733 and 33 Metro Lines, the 1 Big Blue Bus Line and the Marvin Braude Bike Trail (AKA The Strand).

TOTTs: Heal the Bay will provide re-usable gloves and buckets. You are encouraged to bring your own gloves, grabber TOTTs and water. We will be providing some bottled water, hand sanitizers/wet wipes, sun block, and a mini first aid kit.

Waivers: To save time, register at Heal the Bay's table first! All participants are required to fill out a waiver prior to participating. All minors must have their parents consent to participate and minors under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. For those bringing a group, please state how many people you may bring in your "Will Attend" log to help us prepare.

Meeting Location: We will be stationed at the elevated picnic tables (see waypoint) from 9 - 9:30 AM, and again 11:30 AM - 12 PM, with the logbook. Group photo will be at 11:30 AM.

Attire: Remember to wear closed-toed shoes for safety, and layers as the weather can change at the beach. Have caching attire? Even better!
