UFOs Mystery Cache
Korat: This was a really fun night cache, but times have changed. The park is now posted open from sunrise to sunset making it impossible to do. I was told by the parks department that the closure signs were just meant to keep the homeless from camping here, but cachers are hesitant to do this cache when they see the signs. So there is no point in keeping this active.

This is strictly a night mystery cache requiring a GOOD flashlight. It is best to hold the flashlight at eye level. UFOs is located in a popular south Salem park. You will be on and off paths. Roundtrip is about 2 and 1/2 miles. It should take 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours unless conditions are bad. Seekers assume all risk and liability.
Mysterious lights have been seen in the area. You are like an Air Force pilot being scrambled to intercept them. So grab a co-pilot and head out to chase this one unless you would rather fly solo.
This cache took a fair amount of time to set up. YOU MUST DO THIS AT NIGHT OR YOUR LOG WILL BE DELETED. Like a good pilot keep your eyes open and watch all your sides. All UFOs are near paths except the final.
The coordinates are the starting point. Once you arrive here you will need to look about with a flashlight for mysterious lights. Flying along to the final you will start on a paved surface and end up off it. You will be on paved or gravel paths until the final assault and much of the time the surface is paved. The mysterious lights could be up ,down ,or in between. They could be overhead, to your left, to your right, or on both sides. After all they are unidentified flying objects. As you chase UFOs you will eventually spot an area where a few have gathered. This will be hard to miss. You will be turning to your left ( 80-90 degrees) and proceeding into the darkness. You will pass through vegetation as you head to the dead zone. None of this vegetation was there when I set up the geocache so I have posted a few sentries to guide you to the dead zone. As you enter the dead zone you will likely lose track of what you seek. This will be the longest you will travel without passing any UFOs. This area can be very muddy in the wet season. It is impossible to miss the location of the final...
The cache is small. Please do not detach the holder rather lift the cache out of it.
Terrain difficulty and accessibility will vary depending on the season. There are times the terrain will be 5* and you'l'll need to swim or have a boat. Dress appropriately (BOOTS RECOMMENDED) and have fun. When I set this up the final leg was much different than it is now terrain wise. Be aware of your surroundings and stay safe. A posted note says coyotes have been seen in the area. They should be asleep when you show up. I do not recommend waking them up. At times cougars have been seen in this park too. But no one has ever reported being attacked by one in Salem.
