The Event
This years event will be a float held from Williamsport, MD to Sharpsburg, MD. Times will be 9am to 2pm with lunch at 1pm.
Captain's Notes
The event coordinates lead to a small island right off Taylor's Landing. If you only wish to attend the event and not participate in the "Treasure Hunt" I would recommend putting in here. For those participating in the treasure hunt I recommend putting in at Dam No 4. There is not a boat ramp there, and its a little carry across the canal to the river but I will be there around 8am to help anyone that needs it. With that being said, as always you are responsible for your own transportation while participating in PotP.
The Treasure Hunt
For those participating in the Treasure Hunt we will be meeting at the top of Dam No 4 at 9am sharp.
The Plot
The crew of the Arabella, and its captain Jonathan Hawkins, have run aground in the Chesapeake Bay attempting to escape the Royal Navy. Scuttling his ship rather than see her in the hands of the Navy, Captain Hawkins and a few select crew members retreat up the Potomac river on a skiff with a chest full of treasure. After hiding the treasure and agreeing to split up to avoid being captured, they divide the map to their hidden treasure into nine pieces. All agree to meet again in sixty days and recover the treasure.
The sixty days has now passed, and none of the crew has shown. Captain Hawkins has hired you to track down his crew and find out what happened to them, and to return with either the crewman or their piece of the map.
The Game
Each group/player will be given a copy of the Captain's Logbook. The logbook will have a synopsis of the back story, a brief description of each crew member, and a “fill me in” map. Each logbook will come with coordinates to each crew member.
The goal will be to travel to the location of each crew member, once there you will have to acquire the map piece.
Once players have all the map pieces they need to rendezvous with Captain Hawkins who will then give them his piece so they can go find the treasure together.
The Food
I will supply hotdogs and beans. It will be B.Y.O.D (bring your own drink) as usual. If anyone wants to bring any other food items such as deserts that would be much appreciated also. Remember you will most likely be bringing these items out to a island via boat where there are no tables or chairs.
