Klokkeren fra Notre Dame er baseret på Victor Hugos roman fra 1831. Filmen er nummer 34 i rækken af Disney Klassikere. Den kom i biograferne i 1996 og een af de mørkeste Disney film, til trods for 'Disneyfiseringen' og sangene.
Den indbragte Disney 325 millioner US Dollars, på et budget på ca 100 millioner US Dollars. Filmen blev nomineret til både en Oscar og en Golden Globe for musikken, men vandt dog ikke.
Vi befinder os i Paris, hovedstaden i Frankrig i 1482. En flok sigøjnere forsøger at komme ind i Paris uden at blive opdaget af justitsministeren Frollo og hans politi. Det lykkes ikke, og en sigøjnerkvinde med et handicappet barn bliver dræbt lige udenfor Notre Dame kirken. Derfor tages drengen ind i kirken, hvor han opvokser indenfor kirkens mure. Han kaldes Quasimodo. Som tyveårig er han nu klokker og ensom. Han omgås kun med de tre gargoiler eller stenfigurer, Hugo, Victor og Gertrud. De overtaler ham til at deltage i en Festival, hvor han er klædt ud som nar. Her bliver han mobbet og drillet med sit udseende og bliver kun reddet på grund af Esmeralda, en ung sigøjnerkvinde. Frollo opdager Esmeralda og lukker hende inde i kirken også. Frollo's politiassistent Phobeus hjælper til. Han opdager dog, at Frollo har til hensigt at finde alle sigøjnere, som befinder sig et hemmeligt sted og dræbe dem alle. Det bryder Phobeus sig ikke om, og vælger at slutte sig til Esmeralda og Quasimodo i kirken.
Nu vil Frollo sætte ild til det hele, han har opildnet hele Paris til at tro, at de tre i kirken er forræddere og de stimler sammen foran kirkens porte. Quasimodo hælder flydende bly ud fra tårnet for at forhindre dem i at komme ind. Dog lykkes det Frollo at komme ind og op i tårnet, hvor han kommer op at slås med Quasimodo. De falder begge ud og styrter ned, Frollo dør, men Quasimodo redder livet og befrier på denne måde byen fra Frollos jerngreb. Nu er han en helt.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is based on the novel by Victor Hugo from 1831. The movie is number 34 in the row of Disney Classics. It was released to cinemas in 1996 and it is one of the darkest Disney movies, despite the 'Disneyfication' and the songs.

We are finding ourselves in Paris, the capitol of France in 1482. A bunch of gypsies at trying to get into Paris witout being discovered by the minister of justice, Frollo and his police. They do not succeed and a gypsy woman with a handicapped child is killed just outside the Notre Dame church. Because of that the disabled boy is taken into the church. He is raised within the church walls, and is called Quasimodo. As a twenty year old man he is now the bellringer and he is lonely. He is only socializes with the three gargoyles, Hugo, Victor and Laverne.
They persuades him to go participate in a festival dressed up as a fool. He is teased and bullied because of his looks and is only rescued because of Esmeralda, a young gypsy woman. Frollo finds out about Esmeralda and captures her in the church as well. Frollo's police assistant Phobeus is helping with that. Then he finds out, that Frollos intention is to find and kill all gypsies - they are all assembled in a secret place. Phobeus doesn't like that and chooses to join Esmeralda and Quasimodo at the church.
Frollo now wants to set the church on fire and get a hold of the three traitors. Hen has incites the people of Paris to believe that the three people in the church are traitors and they all gather in front of the church gates.
Quasimodo poures moltes lead into the street form the church tower to prevent them from entering. Frollo still manages to enter and arrives in the tower, here he ends in a fight with Quasimodo. They both tumble over the edge and falls to the ground. Frollo dies, but Quasimodo is saved and in this manner he rescues the capitol from the tough Frollo regime. He is now a hero.
