CITO ("Cache In, Trash Out") events are a chance for Geocachers to make a positive contribution to the effort of keeping our world beautiful, safe and as they should be. We often make use of this rich landscape as we hide and seek our caches but this gives us a chance to do more. Today's event is mostly about litter-picking.
Please bring the following with you:
- Suitable footwear and clothing (the ground here is uneven)
- Gloves
- A drink or snack and your lunch!
- A litter picker, if you have one
I will provide:
- Bin liners
- Antibacterial hand gel
As well as being a lovely place for a walk, this woodland is also used by others for various purposes and there is quite a lot of debris and litter around. Come along prepared to spend a while clearing the area and removing the litter. Althougn this is mostly in the form of cans, wrappers,crisp packets etc it's important to be careful and vigilant when picking up litter. If you see anything that you're not sure of then don't touch it! Call someone else over and we can decide together what to do about it.
Children are welcome to take part but should be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Dogs are welcome too but should be kept on a lead. (Dogs can also take part by encouraging their owners to take away any poop they leave!) Everyone takes part at their own risk, although accidents and incidents are unlikely if we're careful and sensible.
Please note: there is very limited parking in the layby near the coordinates. Please approach carefully and if you can see that the pull-in is full carry on and find somewhere else to park, Slightly further north on the opposite side of the road you will find Riseholme Lane. Please take great care when crossing the A15 if you park here. Otherwise, you could park at the other end of the green lane near GC5Z23Yand walk through. Please car-share where possible.
