Geocache Description:

Cette cache est située sur le site du Centre culturel Le Griffon, anciennement l'entrepôt frigorifique. Le bâtiment a été érigé en 1942 à l’époque des coopératives de pêcheurs. Il servait à l’entreposage du poisson séché et salé, ainsi qu’à la saline.

En 1973, un incendie ravage l’établissement de pêche, mais l’entrepôt frigorifique est sauvé de justesse. L’activité économique y cessera au début des années 1990. En 1999, un important mouvement se crée au sein de la communauté pour sauver le bâtiment qui tombe en ruine. En septembre 2005, c'est l'ouverture officielle du Centre culturel Le Griffon et du Café de L’Anse.

En plus des objets du géocaching, la cache contenait au départ un gratteux pour le PAT et plusieurs objets pour l'échange.

The cold store in L'Anse-au-Griffon

This cache is located on the site of the Centre culturel Le Griffon, formerly the cold store. The building was erected in 1942 at the age of fishermen's cooperatives. He served as storage of dried and salted fish, and the salt.

In 1973 a fire destroyed the fishing settlement, but the cold store is saved just in time. The economic activity will cease in the early 1990s. In 1999, a major movement is created within the community to save the building crumbling. In September 2005, the official opening of the Centre culturel Le Griffon and the Café de L'Anse.

In addition to objects of geocaching, the cache contained initially a scratch & win for the FTF and several items for exchange.
