Geocache Description:

Moderately steep hill down to Rubicon Trail, then easy going to cache. Elevation of cache 6261 feet. Elevation at starting point approx 6700 feet. Total descent about 500 feet.

This is one of our favorite hikes near Lake Tahoe. Views of the lake are numerous with many good picnicking spots along the way. The cache site also has a great place to have lunch. Don't forget to look for mergansers. On your way back, hang a left a half mile or so down the trail and walk out to Emerald Point. When the lake water level is low you can rock hop almost to the center of the mouth of Emerald Bay. Beautiful! The trail may be skiable in the winter, but we have not tried this yet.

Make sure you bring food and water. Depending on your entry point you will need to hike at least 5 miles roundtrip.

Cache is a green ammo box, with the following contents:

Logbook with a pen and 2 pencils
Teenie Beanie Baby
Golf divot tool
Golf ball
marbles
plastic bag for garbage
Sacramento Kings stickers
Balloons
Lion finger puppet
Patches

Sewing kit
Wooden nickels
