The Archaeological Park from Constanta is an area rich in vegetation and in which the spirit of the old Citadel of Tomis is still alive. The park spreads on a generous surface, between the City Hall of Constanta and the Ferdinand Boulevard.
Its alleys seem like exposition halls from a history museum due to the fact that they are framed by columns, ceramic vessels and other historical artefacts dating from the period in which the citadel was under Roman-Byzantine dominance.
The angle of the park which is on the Ferdinand Boulevard is still limited by the Roman enclosure wall, dating from the 3rd century AD. The wall shows two gates, which used to serve as entrance gates. Also, here can be seen the ruins of the Butcher's Tower, which was remade during the rule of Justinian, and other architectonic pieces from the times of the antique Tomis.
On the wall of the building located in the eastern extremity of the park can be seen the map of the antique settlements from the old Dobruja. The map is made out of natural stone on a large scale.
To solve this Multi-cache you will need to follow some steps and to do some arithmetic (only Addition, so don't worry!)
- START (LAT = N 44 10.652 / Long = E 028 39.139) // La Chute (Downfall) - this is your starting point. Nothing to search around here, but the statue is pretty weird ... so I like to show it to you. It was made in 1999, to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Romanian Revolution. The big white building in front of you is the City Hall (Constanta White House).
- STEP No.1 (LAT = N 44 10.645 / Long = E 028 39.130) // Ion Banescu - this is the statue of former Constanta Mayor. But you are not really interested into the statue, better pay attention to a small lamp near-by. Read the vertical numbers (XYZ) - this is the Long of Cache Location. (Control: X+Y+Z=7)
- STEP No.2 (LAT = N 44 10.683 / Long = E 028 39.075) // The Map - Constanta is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Romania. It was founded around 600 BC. The old city walls are resting right in front of you. The Latin names of important places of Dobruja are on the map (map made of natural stones). Simple aritmetics to find LAT = ABC (Control: A+B+C = 16). CALLATIS + PARTHENOPOLIS + STRATONIS + HISTRIA + HERACLEA + HALMIRIS + SALSOVIA + CAPIDAVA
- FINAL (LAT = N 44 10.ABC / Long = E 028 39.XYZ) // Cache Location
BYOP, be Stealth and please leave the Cache the same way you find it. Thank you and ENJOY!
