Come to this beautiful place and you will understand why I picked this spot to memorialize my sweet Geo-Dog Sonora. It is a quiet place of remembrance and repose, shady and lush with ferns in this harsh desert environment. A lone large cottonwood grows at the end of the Alcove, reaching out of the shade and into the sunlight.
This cache was originally a memorial cache for my miniature Schnauzer who loved climbing these desert rocks and sniffing out these desert canyons. It had been placed near an informal pet cemetery but had to be archived due to a resort’s building on that spot. As a result, this cache is starting full of dog and cat toys. Hope you can find something in there for your own furry friend.
Four wheel drive and high clearance is a necessity at this time. I came here in my Toyota Tacoma with no problems, but was careful going through the washes. An ATV would be ideal, but not necessary.
There is another cache just up the canyon from this parking area. A fun hike will bring you to Little Rascal’s Hiding Place GC98C72. Both caches are ammo cans.
