the Hubert and Ducky duo strike again!
Hubert visited this island at least once a summer by canoe with his dad when he was younger. We would camp at Devil's Elbow and paddle around the bays.
While Ducky has seen the island from the road, this was her first visit. While there, we stumbled upon a... rookery? A nesting place of herons. Please try to avoid this area, not only for your own cleanliness (think that poop follows gravity), but for the birds' concern as well.
When paddling back to our put-in point, we not only got to watch the sunset, but were graced with the presence of a bald eagle.
If you are travelling by road, we are afraid that you will find yourself out of luck. You can see the island where the cache resides as you cross over Barkley Lake on the Hwy 68 bridge.
We recommend a boat of some sort (we'd highly recommend kayaks/canoes, because that is what we like!), or at the very least a floatation device as you swim out that way...
To the best of our knowledge, this island has no name. We simply named it due to it's crescent shape, as seen from the bridge.
Please replace the cache as you found it.
