The Little Cemetery Safari Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lactodorum: As this splendid cache has now gone I'm permanently archiving it. Many thanks to Sparafucile for placing it in the first place and let's hope it is "resurrected" elsewhere.

Geocache Description:

This is a multi-cache/puzzle cache over a small area of about 2 acres. It is located in the surroundings of a small former church which is now a private residence. The terrain is flat but can get a bit muddy at times. The cache box is concealed in a very sneaky way and should surprise most cachers & has a touch of the " Indiana Jones'" about it. The cache contains a selection of useful goodies for young & old plus the White Rabbit TB.

St Botolphs church in Shenley is the area in which this "safari" takes place. The church building and its immediate grounds are private property and should be respected as such. The graveyard & adjoining cemetery are open to the public at all times making this an ideal but very creepy night cache for the braver cacher. (I wouldn't do it at night!)
The cemetery section is still in use so please respect accordingly. Also, due to some fly-tipping over the past few years a closer watch is being made on the area so bear this in mind.
The cache final location is obtained by visiting 4 different locations within the cemetery & graveyards. You will probably be familiar with the procedure of substituting numbers for letters in co-ords on other multi caches. This works the same way but with one exception, the 3rd location also gives the number of a correct advice statement, 1 of six. The other 5 advice statements are wrong and will lead you up the garden path or worse!
As the readings on the GPSr are likely to be a bit erratic in this vicinity due to evergreen tree cover, I have given a little additional info in the locations descriptions to help. There are also some other clues in the text.

Location 1: You should be within 3m of the Martin memorial, a celtic cross 3m high, one of the tallest in the graveyard. At what age did Henrietta pass away? Age =A7

Location 2: N51:42:17A W000:17:33A You should now be within 3m of the Buchanan-Kirk Memorial A long, low memorial with a 2m shrub growing in it. At what age did he die? Age =B9

Location 3: N51:42:121 W000:17:(B-2)55 You should be in an area of small memorials. Look for Icyline Davis' stone.
When was she born? Date = 19DC

D= The number of one of six advice statements below. Only this advice is true.

1; Walk about 3m east and pull the orange rope marked "pull" hanging from the tree. Jump out the way if necessary & watch your head!

2: Below Thomas Blacks stone, place your hand in the obvious hole & feel around for a ribbon, but do not disturb the occupant.

3: Carefully slide the block just above the angel on Gina Ghecco's stone downwards, keeping it at arms length.

4: As you enter the old hut look up to the shelf on your right. The cache is on the "empty?" coffin marked "spare"

5: Count the number of lines in the verse on Robert De Credes stone. Then count down the tiles the same number from the stone towards the foot of the grave & remove that tile.

6: From the left side of the Carlos Mendoza memorial walk down the steps and enter the crypt. Look in the large stone urn to the right marked with an owl.

Location 4: N51:42:149 W000:17:D(C-2)(C-2) This is your final location & you should be between some tall trees. The cache is within a 4m radius. USE THE INFORMATION IN THE CORRECT ADVICE STATEMENT TO LOCATE & RECOVER THE CACHE. No more clues.
When you find it please treat it gently as it is not quite as robust as most other caches. All will be revealed on discovery. Good Luck!
