Welcome to the Charles J. Pedersen Memorial Park on the outskirts of Salem. Charles won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1987 for work to do with methods of synthesizing crown ethers. He is one of very few people to win a Nobel Prize without having a PhD. He lived in Salem and worked at Duponts in Wilmington for 42 years. Charles died on 26th oct 1989 aged 85.
