Geocache Description:

One of the "NANA NANO" series.

This series was conceived in honour of all the senior citizens of the world. As an Aged Carer myself I possess a deep and abiding respect and affection for this particular group of people whose wisdom and experience vastly outstrip my own. Who among us doesn’t know an elderly friend/neighbour/family member who may, from time to time, display what society has come to label “stereotypical” traits/behaviours of the more senior members of our population—diminished visual acuity and hearing, memory loss, issues with mobility, etc. These are the qualities that endear them to us, and let’s face it, they are the very traits that each of us has the chance to possess one day as an ever-growing segment of the Australian populace journeys into their twilight years. As the name suggests, it is a (magnetized) nano series containing logs only, so please bring along your own writing device.
This series is a celebration of the quirks and foibles that typify some of the seniors in our community. As an ever-growing group there is the distinct possibility that one day they will simply take over the world, at which point sturdy, sensible shoes, zimmer frames and crocheted knee rugs will be the order of the day. Enjoy these caches and do them in honour of someone you know and love whom you may recognize in the descriptions. Now, I’ll just go locate my specs and feed my 57 cats and leave you all to it.................................

“Will you have jam on your slippers this morning??”
The title for this cache comes from an advertisement for Alzheimers Australia that I found in a magazine recently where a pair of purple slippers was pictured in the slots of a toaster with the caption “There’s a perfectly rational explanation”. I keep the picture on my kitchen corkboard and I borrowed the notion for this cache, cause Nana has found herself in need of a new toaster so has headed out to a local kitchen appliance store to make the necessary purchase. I think she’ll need new slippers, too!!!
