This cache is a micro in an unusual place. The stream crosses the road and not the other way round. It is accessible 24/7. You don't have to walk very far and can park on the road close by.
A ford is a much cheaper form of river-crossing than a bridge but it may become impassable after heavy rain or during flood conditions. A ford is therefore normally only suitable for very minor roads. There are over 2500 such fords in the UK. They are also called "wet roads" or "Irish bridges".
This is a very old part of England and therefore many films have been shot in this area, including Geneviève and Sleepy Hollow.
The area belongs to Fulmer (OE Fugelmere “lake frequented by birds”), a pretty village dating back to the 13th century situated between Gerrards Cross and Pinewood Studios.
