After hiking down this single track from Coyote Peek one day, I
finally found a wide, flat spot at the "bottom" where I could step
aside and take a break. Just after I put my pack down and was about
to grab a bite to eat, a couple of mountain bikers came screaming
down the hill. A few bites later, a couple more came flying down.
When I finished my snack, a couple more bikers ripped down the
hill. When I was about to leave, a wanna be downhiller inched his
way past me. From the looks like the area, this is the "reward" for
downhill mountain bikers after climbing up to Coyote Peak. You can
collect this "reward" too, by either biking, hiking, or horseback
riding up or down this trail.
The cache is located slightly off the trail in a location where
you can safely watch the mountain bikers zoom down the trail.
Park hours are from 8:00am to sunset. Dogs on leash and bicycles
are allowed on the trail. Nearest parking is available at the
Pueblo group picnic area ($6 parking fee) or from the free parking
area at the end of Bernal Road.
Cache is in a camo taped 2" x 4" x 6" plastic container which
contains some bicycling related trinkets (you don't need to stick
to the theme), logsheet, geo-note, and pen.
